Your tasks and responsibilities:

  • Interacting, researching and understanding our partners’ target and drug discovery platforms to provide appropriate context into data analysis projects
  • Transforming textual data requests into appropriate data compilation strategies
  • Pro-actively defining additional types of relevant information
  • Querying of mainly internal, but also external databases
  • Compiling all request-related data into logical and easy-to-read spreadsheets
  • Drafting of textual summaries that will guide data interpretation, and ideally trigger follow ups
  • Communicating the responses to the partner, and replying to their resulting inquiries for explanations/clarifications

You have the following skills and qualifications:

  • MD, or PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedicine or similar disciplines
  • Strong background in human/medical genetics
  • At least 3 years of post-doctoral working experience in  human genetics-related and/or drug target discovery setting
  • Knowledge of the therapeutic space for genetic disorders
  • Previous experience with, or impact on, the pharmaceutical sector is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with clinical-genetic data sets, and with corresponding public databases (e.g. OMIM, HGMD, ClinVar, DECIPHER, etc.)
  • Good knowledge of the concepts of
    • Human Phenotype Ontology
    • classification of genetic variants in a disease context
    • (in silico) prediction of the effects of genetic variants 
  • Fluent in English incl. medical terminology
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to rapidly familiarize with diverse topics
  • Ability to work in a team, and to co-operate with experts from a wide range of areas
